PIQUA — A woman was hospitalized after being hit by an SUV in Piqua overnight.

The crash was reported in the 300 block of Washington Avenue around 12:36 a.m., according to Miami County dispatchers.

A 35-year-old woman was going north on Washington Avenue on a motorized wheelchair when she was hit by a vehicle going south, according to a spokesperson for the City of Piqua.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene before police got to the scene.
The woman was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for treatment. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The suspect, a 26-year-old woman, later came to the Piqua Police Department to identify herself as the driver of the vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Kona.
The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
