FRANKLIN — Three people were hurt after a train derailed in Warren County on Thursday, according to a spokesperson with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

An initial investigation found that a Norfolk Southern train was traveling northwest on the railway from the Atlast Roofing rail yard at 675 Oxford Road.
The train derailed near Forest Avenue and Chestnut Street around 10:40 a.m.
Three of the five rail cars derailed; two cars were suspended, and one car overturned, according to the spokesperson.

The car overturn caused diesel fuel to leak.
The Ohio EPA was notified.
One of the two rail cars that did not derail was fully loaded with argon.
Three people were on the train when it derailed. They were all hospitalized with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Federal Railroad Administration.
The area remains closed to traffic while crews investigate.
