MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Police said two people are in custody after a chase through Montgomery County early Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, two patrol cars were damaged, and another car was smashed before the chase finally ended.

Herbert Agee, Jr., was on his way to work when a truck crossed the center line and slammed into him.

“He went through the intersection, and I turned hard right to avoid him, and he came and hit me anyway,” Agee said.

Lt. Dallas Root with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said, “Two individuals were observed getting into a pickup truck by one of the state troopers who were on the outside perimeter.”

Troopers tried to pull the truck over, but they took off. The vehicle was chased down Main Street, and when they hit Agee’s car, troopers moved in.

“We decided that we needed to bring the pursuit to a stop and conducted a pit maneuver and brought the vehicle to a stop,” Root said.

The chase ended just south of Siebenthaler on North Main Street.

Troopers said two people were taken into custody. Two state patrol cars were damaged, ending the chase, but the troopers inside were not injured.

“Thank God, the troopers and the sheriff deputies took him down,” Agee said.

He is grateful to law enforcement for their work this morning and that this ended with no injuries.
