Rock History talking about The Police, ZZ Top and happy birthday to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden

August 7th, 2008 The Police wrap up, 1996 ZZ Top shine like diamonds and a happy birthday to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.

The Police reunion tour | Today in Rock August 7

August 7th, 2008, The Police wrap up their reunion tour. It’s the first tour that they’ve done since 1996. They did 151 dates in total, the third highest grossing tour of all time. Now there’s a lot of bands you think might get back together again. Maybe they do it for the money. Maybe they do it for the fun. The Police I don’t think are one of those bands that we’ll ever see again. So hopefully you were lucky enough to catch them while they were still touring.

Today in 1996 ZZ Top’s “Eliminator” album is certified diamond. That’s sales of 10 million or more. It’s really not surprising because when they put this album out is when they started to make all the videos with the car, Billy Gibbons Eliminator car, and the girls in the videos too definitely up their popularity and I’m sure that contributed to some of the sales.

And then on today’s calendar a rock birthday Vocalist from Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson.
