August 9th, 1995, a sad day as we lose Jerry Garcia from The Grateful Dead, just eight days after his 53rd birthday. He passes away from a heart attack and understandably, dead heads worldwide are heartbroken and they seem to be playing Jerry’s music everywhere. And sadly, this also means the end for the Grateful Dead.
Also today in 1995, all four original members of Kiss played together for the first time since 1980. They do it for Kiss’s Unplugged special for MTV. Ace Frehley and Peter Criss come back and other than Paul Stanley’s wedding in 1976, this is the only time that all four original members of the band play together without makeup. It goes pretty well. It leads to a reunion tour that unfortunately doesn’t last long.
On this date in 1986 in Knebworth in England, Queen play their final concert with Freddie Mercury.
