October 8th, 1991, Soundgarden released their second album for A&M Records, “Badmotorfinger.” This album contains songs like “Rusty Cage” and “Outshined.”

Today in 1990, Eddie Vedder flies from his home in San Diego up to Seattle where he meets his Pearl Jam bandmates for the very first time. He stays for a week and during that time they record the bulk of the material that’ll become their debut album “Ten.” Eddie had been tapped to be the band’s vocalist after he added vocals to a three-song instrumental demo that the band had sent him.

Today in 1988, Def Leppard scored their only number one hit with “Love Bites.”

Today in 1980, Talking Heads released their album, “Remain in Light.” This is a breakthrough for them in many ways, especially because the song “Once in a Lifetime” from the album becomes a big MTV hit.

Today in 1978, Cheap Trick released their landmark live album, “Live at Budokan.”
