‘A true legend’: Robert De Niro, Seth Rogen, other celebrities remember Ray Liotta

In the hours after acting legend Ray Liotta died, many of the biggest names with whom he’d shared scenes took to social media to offer their remembrances.

Liotta died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic while filming “Dangerous Waters,” as we previously reported.

In a statement to NBC News, Robert De Niro, who starred alongside Liotta in “Goodfellas”, said, “I was very saddened to learn of Ray’s passing. He is way too young to have left us. May he Rest in Peace.”

Lorraine Bracco, who also starred in “Goodfellas,” shared a photo of her with Liotta on Twitter, saying, “I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same… Ray Liotta.”

Joe Pesci, another famous face from “Goodfellas,” offered a statement to NBC News saying, “God is a Goodfella and so is Ray.”

In a post on Twitter, Matt Oswalt remembered Ray Liotta by referencing a line from “Goodfellas”: “RIP Ray Liotta. Hope they don’t serve you egg noodles and ketchup in heaven.”

Seth Rogen took to Twitter to express his sadness, saying, “I can’t believe Ray Liotta has passed away. He was such a lovely, talented and hilarious person. Working with him was one of the great joys of my career and we made some of my favorite scenes I ever got to be in. A true legend of immense skill and grace.” Seth Rogen and Ray Liotta worked together in the 2009 comedy “Observe and Report.”

“This guy. This guy. What a laugh. What a joie de vivre. Gioia per la vita. The stories and jokes we shared. Godspeed friend,” Matthew Modine offered on Twitter.
