Reddick’s publicist, Mia Hansen, confirmed his death, according to The New York Times.

Hansen said Reddick died of “natural causes,” and said he “passed away suddenly,” according to NBC News.

Police were called out to a house in the Los Angeles area around 9:30 a.m. Friday, NBC News reported.

Reddick will reprise his role as Charon in the upcoming “John Wick: Chapter 4″ which is expected to be released in theaters on March 24, Variety reported. Charon is the Continental Hotel concierge in the franchise and he worked alongside Keanu Reeve’s character. He is also expected to appear in a “Ballerina” spinoff that is starring Ana de Armas.

Reddick was best known for his role as Lt. Cedric Daniels on “The Wire” about the messy politics of the Baltimore Police Department, according to The Associated Press.

Reddick got roles in regional theater and at the age of 29 he was accepted to Yale University where he studied drama, according to CNN.

Reddick’s acting career took off in the mid-1990s, according to Deadline. He made guest appearances in “The Nanny” and “New York Undercover.” He appeared in “Great Expectations” and “The Siege.” He also had a recurring role in 2000 on the miniseries, “The Corner.” Later that year in 2000, Reddick appeared in a few episodes of “Oz.” He also was an arc on “Law and Order SVU.”

“When the opportunity for ‘Oz’ came up, I jumped. And when I read the pilot for ‘The Wire,’ as a guy that never wanted to be on television, I realized I had to be on this show, Reddick said, according to the AP. Reddick’s role in season four of “Oz” was a career breakthrough for him as an undercover officer that was sent to prison and became an addict.

He also starred as a special agent on “The Fringe,” and starred in “Lost,” “Intelligence,” “Bosch”, and “American Horror Story: Coven,” according to the AP.

Reddick told the Los Angeles Times in 2019, according to CNN, that his “Lost” character was supposed to become a regular series character but plans changed as he got the role in “The Fringe.”

Reddick earned a SAG Award nomination in 2021 for his role in Regina King’s film, “One Night in Miami,” the AP reported.

Reddick also studied classical composition and played piano at Eastman School of Music, according to the AP. He released an album in 2011 called “Contemplations and Remembrances.”
