Officials at the Kentucky zoo revealed the winner of the “Help Us Name the Seal Pup” contest on Thursday, WLKY reported.

Finsbay, pronounced “Fins-bee,” won against Oban and NOAA, the television station reported. The male pup was born in December, according to WDRB.

Glacier Run keeper Tracy Unger suggested Finsbay because the natural habitat for gray seals includes the Northern Atlantic Ocean’s coasts, including Scotland, WLKY reported. Finsbay is a town located in the Outer Hebrides, an island chain located off the western coast of Scotland, where gray seals congregate to feed on salmon, sea trout and arctic char, the television station reported.

“It made sense to choose something meaningful to the species, and this town is known for harbor and gray seals,” Unger said in a statement. “I am so excited that it won! Thank you for your votes. Now, we can call him by his name as we begin his training.”

Finsbay is the eighth gray seal in the zoo’s history, including a set of twin seal pups born in 1979, WPSD reported. He is now perfecting his swimming skills in a private pool area, zoo officials said.

The pup has not been put out on public display yet, zoo officials said.
