Police: Father throws 2-month-old from Las Vegas balcony, charged with murder

LAS VEGAS — A man in Las Vegas has been charged with murder after police said he threw a 2-month-old baby from a second-floor apartment during an argument with the baby’s mother.

Police said Clarence Martin Jr. was charged with murder, arson and animal abuse, KNTV reported.

When police arrived at the apartment building, the mother was holding her child in the parking lot, The Associated Press reported.

The baby died at an area hospital, The Las Vegas Sun reported.

Police said Martin and the baby’s mother were arguing when he allegedly threw the baby from the balcony of the family’s apartment. He also set fire to the residence before leaving the building. Police said he crashed into several cars but was eventually arrested after coming to a stop at McCarran International Airport and running from police, KNTV reported.

The fire killed the family’s dog, the AP reported.
