KXAS says a man allegedly walked onto an Arlington elementary school campus Thursday morning, injuring himself when the gun was accidentally discharged. They say it happened when he went to adjust his pants and he accidentally hit the trigger on a gun in his waistband.

Arlington police say in a tweet that the school was placed on a short lockdown and that has since been lifted. They say a parent with a “concealed weapon” came to school for early release. WFAA says the students were released from school early, as planned.

“We do not believe there was any malicious intent on the parent’s part or any threat to the school,” police say.

Police say no students or staff at the school were injured. The parent has been taken to the hospital for treatment and the investigation is ongoing. Criminal charges are also pending.
