Crews recover body of missing Texas toddler after boat overturns on Guadalupe River

HUNT, Texas — Search crews in Texas have recovered the body of a missing toddler who fell into the Guadalupe River in Hunt, authorities said Sunday.

According to KENS and WOAI, the 20-month-old girl vanished after the canoe or kayak in which she was riding flipped, sending her into the river, Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer said.

Crews, including a team of divers from Kerrville, conducted an hours-long search, the news outlets reported. Authorities recovered the child's body about 6:30 p.m., Hierholzer said.

No further information about the incident was immediately available. Officials have not released the girl's name.

Texas Parks and Recreation continues to investigate the case, WOAI reported.
