DENVER — The “COVID Bandit” has struck, but instead of taking money, he gave it to those who could probably use it.
The unidentified diner went to Guard and Grace in Denver Saturday, KCNC reported.
The man left a $6,800 cash tip that was divvied up among the restaurant’s 34 employees, KDVR reported.
A staff member told KDVR that the man had been talking to the general manager of Guard and Grace and then went into a private dining room where staff was lined up.
The man then handed each staff member $200.
The man’s reservation didn’t shine a light on his identity because he gave “COVID Bandit” as his name.
Some employees were crying because of the man’s generosity, KDVR reported.
A similar big tip was given to employees at a bakery in the area last month. The receipt was also inscribed with a smiley face and the message “COVID Sucks!” Each employee at that business was also given $200 for a total of $1,400, KCNC reported.
