California police wage water fight with kids after apartment pool is closed for coronavirus

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Police officers squared off with a group of children trying to stay cool on a hot day, after the pool at their apartment was closed because of the coronavirus.

Fairfield police officers responding to a call at an apartment complex noticed a group of children playing outside, who because of coronavirus restrictions, were unable to use the pool.

Officers stepped up by pooling their money to purchase water guns and buckets of water balloons, and returned to the group of kids.

“The ensuing water fight left a lot of soaked uniforms and plenty of smiling faces,” police said on social media.

The impromptu interaction also highlighted the department's positive work in the community.

“Transparency and trust in our community with regards to how we protect and serve you is our top priority — we understand that the more we are able to open our doors to you on all levels, the more we can connect, communicate, and work together,” officials said on social media.
