Robin Newberry, a spokesperson for the Paducah Police Department, said the facility where the explosion happened is not the one where Dippin’ Dots ice cream is made, WPSD reported. It is used for the production of an ingredient Dippin’ Dots provides for a third party, the television station reported.

Newberry said a truck was unloading liquid nitrogen when the explosion occurred, KFVS reported. The cause of the explosion is unknown

Dippin’ Dots uses liquid nitrogen to freeze its ice cream into little dots, the television station reported.

The victims were able to leave the building under their own power and were taken to area hospitals, according to WPSD.

Police are continuing to investigate, the television station reported.
