2 displaced after fire in Englewood

ENGLEWOOD — Firefighters responded to a house fire in an Englewood neighborhood early Friday.

The fire was reported in the 600 block of Fallview Avenue around 4:18 a.m., according to an Englewood dispatcher.

When crews got to the scene, they found heavy fire in the front and side of the house, according to Englewood Fire Chief Anthony Terrace.

An image shared by the Vandalia Division of Fire, which assisted Englewood on the scene, showed significant damage to the side of the home, as well as an SUV that was parked near the house.

The fire caused an estimated $120,000 worth of damage.

No injuries were reported, but the two residents of the home have been displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Terrace also mentioned the importance of working smoke alarms being extremely important for fires that occur during sleeping hours.

“Please check your smoke alarms periodically,” he said.
