We’re halfway through the year. Time flies by. Unfortunately, we’ve lost some music greats during the first half of the year, and we wanted to celebrate their music. Here’s some notable names:
1) David Soul: (Died January 4, 2024 at the age of 80) - Born in Chicago and died in London, David was most known for his portrayal of “Hutch” in the 70′s show Starsky & Hutch. He also had a great singing career scoring the #1 hit “Don’t give up on us” in 1976.
2) Eric Carmen: (Died March 11, 2024 at the age of 74) - Born in Cleveland and died in Lyndhurst, Ohio, Eric was the lead singer of 70′s supergroup the Raspberries which had the huge hit “Go all the way.” Eric also was famous for the song ‘Hungry Eyes’ which was a monster hit for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Eric performed with Ringo Starr & The All-Starr band through the years. Eric is Ohio music royalty.
3) Mike Pinder: (Died April 24, 2024 at the age of 82) - Mike was one of the founding members of The Moody Blues. In 2018 Pinder was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and refused to give an acceptance speech as a protest to the organization for his perceived snub of the group in recent years. Mike performed on so many incredible Moody Blues hits.
4) Toby Keith: (Died February 5, 2024 at the age of 62) - Toby was one of the most influential artists in country music in the 90′s and 2000s. A wonderful person, our own radio station here had Toby for concerts throughout the years and he was great! Country music lost a big one this year.
5) Steve Lawrence (Died March 7, 2024 at the age of 88) - Steve was best known as a member of the pop duo Steve and Eydie (Gorme) and played Maury Sline, from the 1980 film “The Blues Brothers”
May they rest in peace. Thank you for the music and the memories.
