September 16th, 1984, Miami Vice debuts on TV. The first episode is a two-hour one, and it includes a scene that uses Phil Collins’ song “In The Air Tonight.” But this is not the only time that music is a part of the television series. They actually end up using a Glenn Frey song, “Smuggler’s Blues”, to give a storyline to the show, and also use Glenn as one of the actors in the show.
Today in 1977, Talking Heads released their debut album, “Talking Heads 77.” The big hit off the album, “Psycho Killer.”
Today in 1972, guitarist from The Herd and Humble Pie, Peter Frampton, does his first ever solo show in New York as an opening act for the J Geils Band.

Born today in 1948, drummer Kenney Jones, who played not just with the Small Faces, but was also Keith Moon’s replacement in The Who, And born today in 1948, original bassist from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Ron Blair, who was with the band up until the release of the album, “Hard Promises.” He left and then decades later returned to replace his replacement, Howie Epstein. Born today in 1925 Blues icon B.B. King.
