Do you drive in the famous "contraflow" lane on I-75?

I-75 at Needmore Rd I-75 at Needmore Rd (OHGO)

Once in a while I will pull into what is famously called the “contraflow” lane on I-75. I feel risky doing so. The lane is very narrow with no places to pull off, so if there’s any kind of broken-down vehicle or incident, you are simply stuck. Sometimes you can be totally stuck in traffic for a long time while people in the 2 regular lanes next to you are moving without any problems. It’s very frustrating.

Yesterday I was driving on I-75 going south around UD Arena and noticed that the contraflow lane was backed up for miles. Thank goodness I was not in it. Eventually I noticed the car that was holding all traffic up was disabled in the lane, and no way to get around them. I felt bad for them. That was probably the last thing that was on their bingo card for the day. It reminded me to avoid taking it.

Do you avoid it or embrace the contraflow lane? Let me know in the comments below.

Also, there are other changes happening to the construction zone on I-75:

Drivers will see changes on the I-75 construction zone in Montgomery County between U.S. 35 and State Route 741 thru October.  The ramp from Dryden Road to I-75 SB will be closed for 60 days as crews rebuild it.    The updated pattern will maintain three lanes of traffic in each direction on I-75 SB.

Will the construction ever end?
