Not every sports fan is thrilled that Caitlyn Jenner will be receiving an award for courage after the Olympic champion formerly known as Bruce Jenner revealed that she is transgendered.

The ESPYs, presented by sports network ESPN, include several high-profile awards, but the Arthur Ashe Courage Award is considered one of the most prestigious.

This July, Jenner, 65, will receive the award for courage. Her family will be in attendance.

Some sports fans have rallied in support of the late Lauren Hill to receive the courage award instead of Jenner, saying the college basketball player who battled brain cancer and raised money and awareness is a more deserving candidate. A hashtag campaign #LaurenHillESPY is being used to rally fans.

A petition has been formed on asking ESPN to honor both Jenner and Hill with the courage award.

Other fans suggested that Noah Galloway, an Army veteran who lost limbs in a roadside bomb in Iraq and now participates in extreme sporting events was a more worthy recipient than Jenner.

According to the Washington Post, past winners of the Arthur Ashe Courage award include Robin Roberts, Pat Summit and Michael Sam.

Leah Still and her father, Cincinnati Bengals tackle Devon Still, will receive the Jimmy V Perseverance Award as she continues to bravely battle cancer and raise awareness.

The ESPYs will air July 15 on ABC.
