Police believe a woman intentionally ramped up onto a sidewalk on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night, striking 37 people, including one who was pronounced dead.

Lt. Dan McGrath, of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, said investigators found evidence the woman drove onto the sidewalk as many as three times over a short period near the Paris Hotel and Casino. She was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile with Oregon plates and had a 3-year-old child in the car with her at the time, he said.

The child was not injured. The woman was in police custody, McGrath said. Authorities were taking blood samples from her to determine whether she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. She will be charged, although McGrath did not say what charges she would face.

Earlier Sunday, LVMPD Deputy Chief Brett Zimmerman said police were not linking the attack to terrorism.

Around 6:40 p.m. PST, the unidentified suspect drove onto a sidewalk near the Paris Hotel and Casino and Planet Hollywood at least twice, Zimmerman said. Six of those injured were transported to a pair of local hospitals in critical condition. According to New 3, the victims included a seriously injured 11-year-old boy.

By 11:15 p.m. PST, all six victims were listed in stable condition, Zimmerman said.

At least 11 adults were taken to the trauma center at University Medical Center, The Associated Press reported. A spokeswoman for nearby Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center told the wire service 11 others were transported to the hospital, where they were last listed in good condition.
