Tattoo-faced man's mug shot shocks in Texas assault case

LUBBOCK, Texas —

The mug shot of a suspect whose face is covered with tattoos suggests it would be difficult for him to argue a case of mistaken identity.

Jacob Pauda, 30, was indicted by a Grand Jury with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly beating his pregnant girlfriend.

Pauda's girlfriend was treated for extensive injuries after an attack she said was sparked by jealous accusations against her.

Pauda's face is tattooed in the style of a Mexican calavera, a playful representation of a human skull that marks annual Day of the Dead celebrations, the day after Halloween.

In the mug shot, however, the skull does not look playful.
